Dr. Regina D.
Shepard
Educator. Administrator. A heart for children.
“I am blessed and highly favored.”
Dr. Shepard's familiar greeting
More than forty years of teaching. A lifelong commitment to helping children flourish.
Dr. Regina Denise (Golder) Shepard brings a love of learning, a deep Christian faith, and decades of classroom experience to Saint Haven Christian Academy. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, and raised with seven brothers in Ledyard, Connecticut, she developed the energy, versatility, and sense of humor that continue to shape her work with children and families.
Her academic journey began with studies in pre-medicine and chemistry at Tuskegee Institute, followed by attendance at Meharry Medical School. She went on to earn bachelor's degrees in elementary, secondary, and adult education; master's degrees in early childhood education, curriculum and supervision, counseling and supervision, and administration; and a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.).
Of all the grades she has taught, kindergarten holds a special place in her heart. She affectionately calls her classroom “The Pasture” and her students her “sheep”—a tradition reflected in our school's own little flock, Dr. Shepard's Sheep. Her approach pairs high expectations with warmth, encouragement, and personal care.
Beyond the classroom, Dr. Shepard has served in youth ministry, women's ministry, music, and religious education, with a life of service spanning communities in the United States and abroad. She and her husband have raised a family and opened their home to foster children. Known for her wisdom and caring spirit, she brings that same commitment to nurturing others into her work at Saint Haven.
Faith, family, and a dedication to excellence are at the heart of her life's work.
